“After close to ten years as a guitarist in Iced Earth, the time has come for me to step away. Some of you know, but many do not, that I have a child with Autism. In the past I had a great support system that has allowed me to pursue a career in music. That is no longer the case and it has forced me to make a difficult decision. I’ve always believed that family comes first, and now it is time for me to focus on that. The demanding life style of being in a professional heavy metal band is no longer an option for me. Knowing the band is focused on a new album and touring cycle, and given my circumstances, this is the best time for me to step down. Playing in Iced Earth has been a great experience. It’s taken me around the world many times and given me the chance to meet many of my heroes, as well as play in front of crowds larger than I ever dreamed of. I personally want to thank Jon and the guys for the music and the amazing times through the years.
Iced Earth Fans,
Iced Earth is in the process of setting up a new headquarters for all things concerning the band, including a new studio for future recordings. Jon Schaffer has decided to sell some guitars from his massive collection to help finance the new project. Schaffer states, “I’m selling a few guitars that have been on various recordings as well as some that were bought for my personal collection. We need to raise a large amount of money to complete the vision of our new headquarters, and begin this new chapter in the bands march to independence, to thrive in the ever-changing music business. There are some pretty killer guitars in the collection, so I urge die-hard fans, and guitar collectors alike, to go to Carter Vintage Guitars and see what’s there.”

Iced Earth is set to begin the writing process of their 12th studio album in spring 2015. After a short hiatus, (primarily due to founder, chief songwriter, and guitarist Jon Schaffer’s 2nd cervical fusion surgery), the band is planning their schedule for the remainder of the year. Iced Earth fans can expect the next album, tentatively entitled The Judas Goat, and the subsequent touring cycle to begin in early 2016.
Hello brothers and sisters,
It is with sincere apologies that I write to inform you all that ICED EARTH is forced to cancel this summer’s festivals and headline shows.
As many of you know, I underwent surgery on my neck in the year 2000, due to an onstage injury that occurred in 1996. Since that time, I have battled with this problem, and it has begun to accelerate in the past several months, causing additional issues that can no longer be ignored.
In February, while on tour in Europe, I underwent highly specialized treatment in Germany from a doctor who has helped, among many others, Tony Iommi and Eddie Van Halen. This treatment helped sustain my ability to perform so that we could complete our Worldwide Plagues Tour.
However, I am now forced to take further, more invasive action sooner than I intended in order to maintain my overall health.
tonight is our first show in support of Volbeat in Milan, Italy and we start selling the limited edition, blood-red vinyl 12” at the show.
We thought it would be cool for more people to be able to hear the title track of the new album, so without further ado: here’s a lyric video for “PLAGUES OF BABYLON.” This video also gives you a sneak peak into some of the killer art that will be featured in the final version once it hits the shelves.
Band and Crew have gathered and we have begun rehearsals for the Volbeat-Tour that kicks off this Friday in Milan. We are really excited to begin this new touring cycle even though it feels like the previous one only ended yesterday.
It will certainly be killer to see you guys out there and hang with my brother Michael and the guys in Volbeat and their team.
I'm happy to announce that we are once again being joined on tour by our friends in Warbringer for our Headline European Tour starting in 2014.
We are also welcoming Elm Street from Australia as well. I was impressed with their energy and their music. I think it will be a great package and a great tour.
See you out there!
We are proud to present you with the new cover art for “Plagues of Babylon”.
This is a seriously heavy album with a seriously brutal album cover. I’m sure it will go down as a classic in the epic ICED EARTH catalog.
1. Plagues of Babylon
3. The Culling
4. Among The Living Dead
6. The End?
7. If I Could See You
11. Spirit of the Times
